Ms. Memes
Teacher
Mary-Margaret “Memes” Bouwman is thrilled and humbled to begin her meaningful career as an early childhood educator. She strongly believes that children are our greatest teachers and that working alongside them is both a privilege and a responsibility she holds with deep care.
She is a loud and proud mama of two dynamic and loving children, now ages 12 and 15. Motherhood has deeply shaped her and broadened her understanding of compassionate, affirmative communication with children, and the importance of connection, patience, and presence during the early years. Memes believes that every child enters the world with their own unique blueprint, and that when our kiddos are given a safe, nurturing space to fully express themselves, within the guiding parameters of kindness and respect, they are able to truly shine!
With a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Memes’ heart lives in the arts and the creative process. Throughout her adult life, she has cultivated many fruitful businesses in arts and design and has organized a number of public art projects, often collaborating with youth. She advocates that children naturally possess artistic vision and expansive imagination, and that play and wonder are vital for innovation, problem-solving, and discovering one’s unique truth. This philosophical foundation informs her approach in the early childhood educational space. She is passionate about supporting young children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and creative development, embracing Reggio Emilia–inspired principles of a child-led, collaborative, and explorative learning environment.
