Ms. Jen

Teacher

Ms. Jen Cornell was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, and brings her rich Native Alaskan heritage and artistic background into every aspect of her teaching. A lifelong artist with a degree in fine art, Jen follows the Reggio Emilia approach, an art-based, child-led philosophy that nurtures creativity, independence, and exploration. She has been homeschooling her three children for the past eight years and has worked as a nanny for five years, giving her a deep, hands-on understanding of early childhood development and the rhythms of family life. Her classroom is a welcoming space where children are encouraged to express themselves, follow their curiosity, and engage deeply with the world around them.

In addition to teaching, Jen is a florist and photographer who finds inspiration in nature and beauty. She loves bringing fresh flowers and natural elements into her classroom to spark joy, wonder, and connection. Jen is passionate about creating a warm, nurturing environment where each child feels seen, supported, and celebrated. She values strong relationships with families and believes that learning flourishes when home and school work together. Whether it’s through open-ended art projects, nature walks, or collaborative play, she is honored to be part of each child’s early journey.
